Hi everyone! People have visited this blog because of my cards. But most of you don’t know that scrapbooking is my first love. Severals years ago, the supplies in Manila were very scarce and limited to patterned paper packs, stickers and decorative plastic scissors. This was why I chose to import materials from the U.S. A favorite of mine was Basic Grey because of their beautiful patterned papers that were good enough to be framed. I enjoyed making layouts for my 3 young toddlers but as they were growing up, I discovered card making. I somehow left scrapbooking behind and concentrated on creating cards. My children are now teenagers/adult and I know that part of their lives have not been documented because I stopped scrapbooking. š For me, I think it’s also because photos have become digital. Unlike before where you had to have the film printed, now, it’s all stored therefore not really seen. Another option is digital scrapbooking but nothing beats having paint, ink and glue on your hands and physically arranging the embellishments until you’re satisfied with the layout. With so many beautiful stamp designs, you can create your own embellishments just like what I did in the layout below.
When I saw the Altenew Ornate Foliage and Weekend Doodle stamp sets, I got so inspired to create a layout about my daughter and her cousin, Tara. These two are like sisters– cheering each other’s successes and being supportive when challenges arise. Too bad they live thousands of miles apart. I had to make sure their love for each other was recorded/documented through a scrapbook page.
MATERIALS:
PAPERS:A Webster’s Pages Nest Begin Anew; Canson Watercolor Paper 200 gsm
STAMPS: Altenew Ornate Foliage and Weekend Doodles
DIES: Altenew Ornate Foliage dies, Weekend Doodles dies, Delicate Mandala die; MFTa Hi Rise Alphabet Upper case die; Simon Says Stamp Archie Alphabet
3 areas of the watercolor paper were inked using the Altenew Broken Chevrons as pattern. The Mandala die was used to cut through Neenah Solar White CS 3 times and positioned on top of the stenciled background. Images from the Ornate Foliage and Weekend Doodles stamp sets were stamped on white CS using Versamark Ink then embossed using Altenew Rose Gold embossing powder and heat set. The images were then colored using the altenew crips dye inks then arranged under the patterned papers and photos. Layout was based on Page Maps Scrapbook and Cards Magazine Fall Issue. These Page Maps are extremely helpful especially when you need to jumpstart your scrapbooking. It makes creating much easier cause you have a sketch to follow or get inspiration from.
Thanks for dropping by and I hope to make more layouts in the future. ā¤ļø
