What a journey it has been!!! I fell in love with Altenew when I first discovered it in 2015. The Altenew Educators Certificate Program was the perfect way to immerse me in everything Altenew, and that was one of the best decisions I’ve made to help me hone my skills as a card maker. Today, I am so proud to be part of the beautiful group of people who are privileged to be called Altenew Educators. Thank you so much, Altenew, for everything you do, especially for the Educators. What an incredible journey it has been. Altenew has continued to be an arts and crafts company that can boast of fresh, unique, and innovative paper crafting product designs that keep our creative juices flowing!!!
I want to thank Altenew for helping me grow as an artist and for helping me get through the last 2 1/2 years under the pandemic. Keeping my hands busy through these challenging times has given me a sense of calm, peace, and purpose. During the first couple of months, I invited some friends to create cards for the frontliners to let them know how grateful we were for their valiant effort to save lives, even if their own lives were put at risk. Unexpected cards with personal notes written inside have put a smile on the faces of these unsung heroes.
My Little Attic is so proud to be an Altenew partner, and being an Altenew Educator has helped me reach out to other paper crafters in the Philippines. This year, I started a monthly workshop for free featuring two of Altenew’s latest releases, and it’s lovely to see more and more new faces every time one of my design team members and I give a class. Hopefully, this will help spread our love for Altenew to other crafty people new to this form of art. Through the years, I have been challenged to create cards using different coloring mediums, and every time I see a new product, my mind goes into overdrive–thinking of the different ways to use the beautiful products! So THANK YOU, Altenew, for igniting my creativity in so many ways!!!
Below are some cards I made for this hop.
WILL IT BE EASY? NOPE. WILL IT BE WORTH IT? DEFINITELY.
STEPS:
Emboss cardstock using the Monstera 3D embossing folder.
Color parts with Distress Crayons
Add water and use fingers to wet and blend color.
Add embossing ink using a dabber and emboss with Distress glaze Salvaged Patina.
Do the same process with the Just Leaves diecuts.
Stamp sentiment from the Block Sentiments Stamp set on vellum using Rose Gold embossing powder.
Add a white panel and assemble the card.
TIP: Mist the front and back of the cardstock with water before embossing to break down the paper fibers and allow the image to emboss better.
You should know how much I love using mixed media on my cards if you have been following me. The outcome is always so unexpected and unique.
I have recently learned to create botanical line art and realized that I could use a lot of my Altenew stamps to do this! Just choose outline stamps with big openings to have more room to place your botanical line art.
Inlay the hello sentiment and stamp and emboss another sentiment using Pure White embossing powder
Assemble the card.
I learned the outline pencil technique from an amazing watercolorist, Danielle Donaldson. The wonderful thing about this is that you don’t need to worry about outlining the images perfectly. The crooked lines make the images look more interesting.
No matching cardstock? No worries! Create your coordinating cardstock by swiping the ink pad on the edges of the card front to create the perfect match for your colored image.

Welcome to my blog, crafty friends! Thanks, Tenia Nelson, for sending everyone over. I created two cards for this hop. For the complete details of the blog hop, make sure you drop by the Atlenew Blog.
Create background paper using the gel printing plate and acrylic paints to use for the top layer of the flower.
Paint white paper to create solid colors using some of the acrylic paints used with the gel printing plate to create monoprints. These will be used for the other layers of the flowers.
Stamp the sentiment from the Pots and Plants Stamp set using Obsidian Ink and emboss with clear embossing powder. Adhere to vellum with double sided tape.
Assemble card.
TIP: Apply glue at the center of the flower only for a more natural/softer looking flower.
By painting the paper, one can create more texture, and it will also create variations of colors on each petal.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY
STEPS:
Use the extra flowers created for the first card.
Swipe Wisteria Dye ink onto the white cardfront to create a background.
Emboss the sentiment using Obsidian Ink and clear embossing powder.
Assemble the card.

This stamp set is a gorgeous cluster of flowers combined with lovely sentiments. Today, I chose only to use the outline stamp of the flower against an ombre background.
TIP: Allow the lightest wash to completely dry then add different shades of blue. This will create some added texture on top of the background.
This is a pretty quick card to make. Sometimes, less is more. It can be simple but elegant. Using a contrasting color for the flower will let it stand out more. Since vellum is translucent, you can still see the variations of blue come through the paper. I stamped 2 clusters of flowers and just layered them on top of each other.

I just love 3D embossing folders!!! Technology has made it possible to make the designs look more 3D and this release does not disappoint. For this set of cards, I chose to use light and pastel colors. Take a look at the 4 cards I made below using some of the 3D embossing folders.
SO KIND… I’M TOUCHED BEYOND WORDS
STEPS:
Wet the front and back of a Mixed Media white cardstock.
Color the flowers and leaves using the following dye inks– Aqualicious, Hydrangea, Sand Dunes and Coral Berry using the wet on wet technique. Add more concentrated pigments for the shadows.
I love how this card turned out. I wanted to create a set of cards using pastel colors to keep them light. The flowers in this card look so ethereal and delicate! And because the panel was big, I was able to create a second card.
TIP: Make sure to paint flowers/ leaves that are separated from each other to prevent the different colors of inks from blending with each other. Also, mist the front and back of the paper before embossing. This will give it a more crisp image and it will also prevent the paper from tearing.
STAY SAFE
STEPS:
Trim the embossed panel to 2″ x 5.5″.
Add a gold trim using Gold foil washi tape.
Stamp the sentiment from the Pot and Plants stamp set on light blue cardstock and emboss with Pure White embossing powder.
Assemble the card with foam squares and adhesive.
I kept this card clean and simple by using the leftover embossed image from the first card as a border. I love it when I can create more than one card using a single embossed image.
The embossed circle acts as a frame for the plant image. I can imagine so many other possibilities with this embossing folder.
