Altenew Educators “New Favorite” Blog Hop and Linky Party + Giveaway

Altenew Educators “New Favorite” Blog Hop and Linky Party + Giveaway

HAPPY NEW YEAR everyone and welcome to my blog! If you just came from Irina Fonina’s blog, then you’re on the right track. For the complete list and details of the hop, please visit the Altenew blog.

For this hop, we were asked to choose a new favorite product and mine is the Note for You Stamp and die set.

The bundle arrived just in time for Christmas, so I created some handmade Christmas gifts. I love that there are a variety of sentiments that will fit into a 3×3 card base. It also comes with a cute envelope die with an embellished flap! So cute!!! You can stamp or die-cut some borders for a very dainty look.

I used my Gelli prints as my base for all the cards. These were die-cut into squares slightly smaller than 3×3; I stamped the different sentiments using Versamark Ink and Pure White Embossing powder.

II also stamped a floral image from the Engraved Flowers stamp set on the front of the envelopes for added interest. The borders were die-cut using white cardstock and adhered to the top and bottom of the sentiments. These strips are so dainty and look like lace!!! I also included some wax seals created with the Blooming Bud and Delicate Blossom Wax Seal stamps in the gift set.

I used the Note for You Stamp set for my second project, using the stamp lace borders instead of the dies. After stamping and embossing in white, Distress Inks were used in creating an ombre background. The sentiment was stamped, embossed, then die-cut.

I also used another favorite of mine– The Mix & Match Frames die set.

2 of the dies from the Mix & Match Frames dies were used for this card. I layered the die-cut pieces and used foam squares to add dimension. The lacy border and dashed line were stamped using Versamark Ink then embossed with Pure White Crisp Embossing powder.

Altenew Sparkle and Shine IG Hop

Altenew Sparkle and Shine IG Hop

Hi, everyone! Hope you all liked the IG hop we prepared for you. I enjoyed creating cards with lots of shimmer and shine in them. Here’s a quick rundown of how I made my cards for this IG hop. I tried my best to capture the shine in my photos.

I used the following alcohol inks on Yupo paper: Teal Cave, Emerald, Desert Night and Persian Blue. Love the contrast of soft and vibrant colors. This is the beauty of alcohol inks… you really don’t know what the outcome will be!!! I added more shine by using Decofoil gold and Piñata gold for more contrast with the blues. The diecuts were also covered with Gold foil washi tape.

Look at that shine!!!! I really love the gold and green combo.

For the next card, I used Decofoil Tranfser Gel on the Just Leaves die cuts. When the gel became transparent, I added gold foil. I also used the Essential Sentiment strip diecut as a stencil to add gel onto the hot pink cardstock so that the letters will appear in gold.

I just recently added a new toy to my tools and wanted to try if foiling will work using ordinary dies. Take a look at the outcome!!!

I loved how very detailed and intricate the outcome was!!! Some areas had excess foil but I really didn’t mind cause it added texture to the card front.

Although these are CAS cards, I love how the shimmer gives the cards an elegant and classy look. I will definitely be creating more of these cards.

Make sure you leave a comment on my IG feed, @mylittleatticstudio, to get a chance to win some prizes. Thanks so much for dropping by! Stay safe and happy crafting! 💜

Altenew Washi Tape Explorer Blog Hop + Giveaway

Altenew Washi Tape Explorer Blog Hop + Giveaway

Hello, my crafty friends! Welcome to Altenew’s Washi Tape Blog Hop + Giveaway! If you just came from Karen Brown, then you’re on the right track. For the complete blog hop details, please click Altenew Blog.

I created two new cards using washi tapes. I’m also including some old projects from previous blog hops so that you can see the variety of ways you can use the Altenew washi tapes. If you’d like to see the complete collection of Altenew’s washi tapes, click here.

THANKS

STEPS:

  1. Attach the Botanical Rhapsody Wide Washi tape onto white cardstock and fussy cut the flowers and leaves.
  2. Attach the Peachy Tiles Waship tape onto white cardstock and trim to fit an A2 cardfront.
  3. Add a torn Many Dots Washi tape on the lower third of the cardfront.
  4. Add the Peachy Tiles panel using foam squares.
  5. Arrange the flowers and leaves using foam squares and adhesive.
  6. Adhere the thanks die cut from the Craft your Life Seasonal Blooms set.

See how easy it is to create this card?! Adding the washi tape to paper gave it some sturdiness so that it was easy to cut and shape.

HELLO

STEPS:

  1. Color the Bouquet Die Cut tape using Alcohol Ink Mermaid, Alcohol Pearl Tranquil and Piñata Rich Gold. Allow to dry.
  2. Adhere the colored tape onto dark blue cardstock to create a background for the card front.
  3. Add a border by using the Mix & Match Frames die.
  4. Die cut the Hello 4 times using white carstock. For the last one, adhere the Gold Foil Washi Tape first before die cutting the word.
  5. Add the Enchated Gold Metallic Thread to ground the Waterbrush Hello die cut.

Technically, this is not a washi tape. I realized it was categorized as a die-cut tape AFTER I created the card. 😱 But I liked the effect of the alcohol inks so I thought it would be nice to share the process. Dye inks will not work (yes, I tried blending dye inks and they just rubbed off.)

As you can see, in both of my cards, I did not use any stamp set. All were just washi tapes and die cuts and both were fairly easy to put together.

Below are more cards/projects I made using Altenew washi tapes.

Altenew Mighty Kind Stand Alone Dies Collection Release Blog Hop + Giveaway ($300 in total prizes)

Altenew Mighty Kind Stand Alone Dies Collection Release Blog Hop + Giveaway ($300 in total prizes)

Welcome to my blog, everyone! If you just came from Lilith Eeckels blog, then you’re on the right track. For the complete details of this hop, you may head to the Altenew Card Blog. You can find the complete release of the October 2021 Mighty Kind release collection here.

I created a number of cards for this wonderful release. Let me know in the comment section which one you like the best.

BE KIND

STEPS:

  1. Create the background using Fine Tulle Stencil with Tumbled Glass, Frayed Burlap and Spiced Marmalade Distress Oxide inks and Rusty Hinge Spray stain. Spray some areas with water for the inks to react.
  2. Die cut the Simple Shapes Cover Die and adhere on top of the background.
  3. Die cut from vellum the background die and from light blue cardstock the Be Kind die. I die cut this 4 times and adhered them on top of each other for added thickness.
  4. Assembe the card with adhesive.

Wouldn’t the world be a better place if we all can just be kind to one another??? Kindness is being considerate, generous, empathetic and accepting of the difference of others. I think we should remind ourselves, every day, to be kind.

GRATEFUL FOR SMALL THINGS, BIG THINGS AND EVERYTHING IN BETWEEN

STEPS:

  1. Die cut 4 different shades of blue cardstock using the Calming Reflection Cover die.
  2. Adhere the layers from darkest to lightest but slightly shifting a few millimeters so that the lighter cardstrock will be seen.
  3. Stamp the sentiment from the Greatest Blessings Stamp and emboss using Rose Gold embossing powder.
  4. Die cut blue cardstock using the Just Leaves Die.
  5. Assemble the card on gold cardstock with adhesive.

Here’s another quick card to make… all you have to do is die cut the pieces. I love the shine of the gold cardstock against the layers of blue!

STRONGER THAN YESTERDAY

STEPS:

  1. Die cut white cardstock using one of the dies from the Flowing Foliage Die several times and adhere on top of each other for dimension.
  2. Create the background using Distress sprays and water.
  3. Die cut the background using the Mix & Match Frame die. Die cut white cardstock using the largest die from the same set to create the dotted frame.
  4. Arrange the the die cut flowers on the Distressed background.
  5. Stamp and emboss the sentiment from Block Sentiments Stamp on the excess backround using Versamark Ink and Pure White embossing powder. Adhere this on parchment paper.
  6. Assemble the card with foam squares and adhesive.

I love the dies in this set!!! There are so many ways you can use this set. You can also mix them with your floral stamps, too.

YOU ROCK

STEPS:

  1. Create an alcohol inked background using Cotton Candy and Sea Glass Alcohol Inks and isopropyl alcohol on vellum. Add Piñata Brass for shine.
  2. Add splatters using the mentioned inks and plain alcohol.
  3. Cut down to 5.25 ” x 4″ sheets and adhere to white cardstock using double sided adhesive sheets.
  4. Create 3 die cuts using the leaf pattern from the Flowing Foliage Die. Stack 3 on top of each other for more dimension.
  5. Die cut 4 times from white carstock the sentiment using the Way To Go die. For the last layer, use the excess alcohol inked background.
  6. Assemble the card with foam squares and adhesive.

I was inspired by Tiffany Solorio’s alcohol ink process using vellum so I tried it out. She used an Alcohol blending solution while I used isopropyl alcohol. I did not have that much warping maybe because I used thicker vellum. Love all the texture on this card.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY

The process of this card is the same as the previous one. I was able to make 2 cards using 1 background! I will definitely be experimenting more with alcohol inks and vellum. For this card, I used the sentiment from the Essential Sentiments Die set for the sentiment.

Altenew Craft Your Life Project Kit: Garden Rose Release Blog Hop + Giveaway ($300 in total prizes)

Altenew Craft Your Life Project Kit: Garden Rose Release Blog Hop + Giveaway ($300 in total prizes)

Hello, everyone! Welcome to my blog! If you just came from Reiko Tsuchida, you’re on the right track. For complete information about this hop, visit the Altenew Card Blog. Take a look at this gorgeous kit!

CRAFT YOUR LIFE: GARDEN ROSE

I created a few simple and quick cards to make and one that takes a little more time to color. Here are some examples I made using this kit.

BE YOURSELF

STEPS:

  1. Cover Neenah Solar White Cardstock using Sea Shore Washi tapes leaving a thin space for the paper to show.
  2. Emboss with Garden Rose 3D embossing folder.
  3. Die cut white cardstock using Rounded Rectangle Die. Add Versamark Ink to the edges and emboss with Rose Gold embossing powder.
  4. Stamp and emboss the sentiment from the Dainty Swiss Dots Stamp set.
  5. Assemble card using foam squares.

Here’s a CAS card with lots of texture. I love the effect of the 3D embossing folder on washi tape. Sometimes, there will be some tear here and there but that just adds more interest to the card.

HOPE YOUR DAY IS FAB & YOU ARE APPRECIATED

STEPS:

  1. Ink up the top cover of the 3D embossing folder with Caribbean Sky Mixed Media Ink and emboss white cardstock. Do the same using Frosty Pink Mixed Media Ink.
  2. Die cut the center using Halftone Squares Die set. Switch the enters and mat using silver cardstock.
  3. Add a card base. If you do not have colored cardstock, use the Mixed Media inks to color the paper to match your embossed layer.
  4. Assemble the card using foam squares.

This is another quick card to make. I love how intricate the roses are and the white highlights just make it look more 3D.

YOU ARE SO LOVED

STEPS:

  1. Stamp on watercolor paper with Versamark and emboss with Rose Gold Embossing Powder the rose image from the kit . Stamp on masking paper and cut out the image. Mask the stamped image on the paper and stamp the leaves. Create a mask for the leaves then stamp and emboss another rose. Continue to stamp-emboss-mask to create the layered images.
  2. Watercolor the petals and leaves using the following Watercolor brush markers: Purple Wine, Persian Blue, Lagoon and Turquoise. Use the wet on wet technique.
  3. Add a light wash on the outer surface of the flowers and leaves.
  4. Add spatters including black ink.
  5. Die cut the center using Nesting Labels die.
  6. Emboss the sentiment with Pure White embossing powder on black cardstock.
  7. Assemble card.

The stamp masking took a while to do but I love the outcome with all the layering! I also do not normally put the stamped images on the right side of the card… I tend to arrange them on the lower-left corner or the left side of the card. This time, I wanted to try something different. I placed the sentiment on the opposite side of the stamped image for more balance. Let me know if you like this layout. 🙂
