Hello everyone! You have just come from the talented Lilith Eeckels . Altenew is collaborating with the amazing Kathy Racoosin from The Daily Marker to inspire crafters to find joy through coloring. Kathy is celebrating her 14th 30 Day Coloring Challenge until the end of November 2019. If you have time, come and participate in the 30 Day Coloring Challenge by coloring something and share it on social media using the hashtag #thedailymarker30day. I hope you will find some “me time” and enjoy the benefits that coloring will give.
I’m in the middle of preps for an Altenew Workshop that I will be teaching in but still wanted to join this hop so I created some CAS cards using easy coloring techniques that didn’t take too much time to create.
MAKE A WISH CARD
MATERIALS:
- Altenew Potted Plants
- Altenew Layered Snowflake Stars A and B
- Altenew Watercolor Brush Markers
- Altenew Dye Inks
- Arches Watercolor paper cold press 300 gsm
I enjoyed doing no-line coloring with these plants using the technique that I saw some days ago by Erum Tasnim. I stamped the leaf image on watercolor paper using Sand Dunes dye ink or any light colored ink to define the outlines of the image then I used both dye inks and watercolor brush markers to color in.
Faber Castell Polychromos colored pencils were also used to add depth. The ombre background was colored using Altenew dye inks and a blender brush.
I’M HERE FOR YOU
MATERIALS:
- Altenew Potted Plants
- Altenew Leaf Frame Cover Die
- Altenew Sentiment Strips Stamp
- Altenew Dye Inks
- Tombow Mono Multi Liquid Glue
- Scrapbook Adhesives Foam Squares small
- Altenew Watercolor Brush Markers
- Faber Castell Polychromos colored pencils
I wanted this potted plant to be the main focus of this card so I kept the background pretty simple. The image was stamped with a light colored dye ink then colored using watercolor brush markers and polycrhomos colored pencils. The leaf frame cover die was adhered to a dark-coloured cardstock. It helps adding an image to a dark colored cardstock for more contrast. The image was added using foam squares for more dimension.
MONOGRAM CARD
MATERIALS:
- Altenew Classic Alphabet Die
- Weekend Doodle Stamp and Die Bundle
- Altenew Watercolor Brush markers
- Altenew Metallic Watercolor
- Tim Holtz Distress Crayons
- Sizzix Embossing folder
- Scrapbook Adhesives Foam Squares
- Tombow Mono Multi Liquid glue
- Canson watercolor paper
- Altenew Rose Gold Embossing Powder
- Versamark Ink
I liked the look of the dark background against a stamped image so I made 2 more cards using the same navy blue cardstock. You probably know by now that blue is my FAVORITE color 🙂 I used some blues and greens from the Distress crayons to color the watercolor paper then added water to activate the colors. After drying it with a heat tool, I stamped the images using Versamark Ink then embossed with Rose Gold embossing powder. I then colored specific areas with brush markers and metallic watecolors. The letter N was die cut 4 times and stacked on top of each other to add dimension.
SENDING HAPPY THOUGHTS
MATERIALS:
- Altenew Weekend Doodles Stamp and Die Bundle
- Altenew Circle Quilt Cover Die
- Altenew Rose Gold embossing Powder
- Versamark Ink
- Altenew Watercolor Brush markers
- Altenew Metallic Watercolors
- Vellum
- Scrapbook Adhesives Foam Squares
Don’t you just love gold on blue?!?! 😄 I had extra watercolored paper so I stamped another image from the Weekend Doodles Set then embossed with rose gold embossing powder. Certain leaves were made darker using the watercolor brush markers and the metallic watercolor. The sentiment was stamped on vellum then added behind the colored wreath. These were attached to the card front using foam squares. The sides of the circle quilt cover die cut was embossed using Versamark ink and rose gold embossing powder to add high contrast.

Hi Anna! I realized that I didn’t do much coloring for some of the cards so the potted plants was a last minute card. Super busy with preps for the workshop so not much detail in the coloring. 🙁 But simple kind of coloring is still coloring, right? 🙂 Looking forward to seeing you on Sat!
Despite being busy you have treated us with many beautiful cards !! Loved the bold color combos.
Your cards are so beautiful! I love the blues—especially the navy backgrounds,

For your second card, I love the die cover as well.
Your third card is my favourite, I really love that dark blue and that monogramed N with those awesomely stamped and painted flowers.
Your last card is my second favourite due to the gold embossing, use of vellum and again that wonderful colouring you did that quilted circle die tied it up perfectly.
